Dear MoveOn member,
Nearly two years after the COVID-19 pandemic turned all of our lives
upside down, we are finally beginning to see the light at the end of the
tunnel—thanks to the availability of safe, effective vaccines.
Nearly 196 million Americans are now fully vaccinated, and in the two
weeks since vaccines became available for children under 12, nearly 3
million kids have received their first dose—an enormous relief for parents
and a chance for kids to join the rest of us and do their part to protect
their communities.^1,2
It's critical to continue to spread the word that vaccination is the best
way we can protect ourselves as well as our friends and family. That's why
MoveOn wants to offer you a unique way to spread the message, share your
values, and protect your vaccination card all at once!

Although vaccination numbers are continuing to tick up, the United States
is still averaging more than 1,000 deaths per day from COVID-19, driven
almost entirely by infections among unvaccinated individuals.^3
Much of the hesitancy from unvaccinated people is coming from rampant
misinformation about COVID and vaccines that is spreading online and,
crucially, by Republican politicians themselves.
Far-right Texas Governor Greg Abbott has taken the lead, banning many mask
and vaccine mandates recommended by public health officials and throwing
his support to anti-vaccine conspiracy theorists—human cost be damned.^4
Make no mistake, Abbott's decision is a political one: He hopes that he
can win his election in 2022 by riling up the Republican base and
weaponizing public health advice, using the same playbook that gave
Republicans victories in Virginia earlier this month.^5
MoveOn is doing everything in its power to fight back, including preparing
to run an enormous campaign to defeat COVID conspiracy-peddling
Republicans up and down the ballot during next year's midterm elections.
We'll be rolling out our plans in the coming weeks, but if you want to get
involved right now—and protect your vaccine card from damage at the same
time!—you can order one of our free "Pro-Science, Pro-Health, Pro-Vaccine"
vaccine card holders to help spread the word and fight back against
right-wing misinformation!
