Children’s Advocates for Change
– a new Illinois child-advocacy organization.
When we last wrote to you, we noted: Sometimes change, even when it is unexpected, can be a gift.
Well, change has arrived!
We are proud to announce the start of a new children’s advocacy organization – Children’s Advocates for Change.
Children’s Advocates for Change is an independent advocacy organization committed to the well-being of every Illinois child. We champion those policies and investments children need to be educated, healthy, and prosper. That means having high-quality health care, a high-quality education, shelter, and a safe and loving environment. It means that child’s parent or guardian has the necessary economic resources to put food on the table and clothes on that child’s back.
As our name implies, it is not enough to just point out existing inequities. Standing up for every child means addressing existing racial and ethnic disparities that our children and their families face. It means addressing those barriers in our laws and institutions (whether by discrimination or other means), tearing them down, and rebuilding more equitable communities. It means having an unfettered voice to say what must be said when it has to be said. It means working for the change that allows every child to succeed in life.
You can find out more about us at our website www.childrensadvocates.org and via our press release on today’s announcement. While at our website, we ask that you consider donating to our organization and fueling the engine for change to better the lives of our children not just in Illinois but across the nation.
Join us and become a champion for children. Together, we can do great things for them.
Sincerely,
