After the Virginia election, it’s clear that we need to make inroads with rural voters or Democrats are in for big losses in 2022. That’s why we’re sounding the alarm bells in the media about the importance of rural outreach, John.
Read the article in Insider about the results from RuralVote.org’s strategy session:
We recently held our first ever national rural strategy session. We had representatives from more than 50 rural organizing groups, including some of the leading rural organizers in the country.
The folks who are doing the groundwork in rural communities know what Democrats need to do to win over rural voters. So I wanted to make sure folks far and wide saw their recommendations for strong rural investment in the 2022 Election.
Nationwide, rural voters make up 20 percent of the electorate. With the rural skew of the Electoral College, the Supreme Court and the Senate, we must start investing in rural voter outreach.
It’s not enough to just show up in rural areas, we need to get organized! That’s why we’ve made it our mission at RuralVote.org to improve the Democratic brand in rural areas ahead of the 2022 Election. We’re going to recruit rural messengers and support rural organizing infrastructure in 39 pivotal rural counties in battleground states that will decide control of the U.S. Senate.
Right now, the other team is winning. It’s time we change the game on the ground in rural America!
