Hi friend,
November is Native & Indigenous People’s Heritage Month — dedicated to lifting up Native and Indigenous people, their culture, and their histories. Pennsylvania was home to many Indigenous tribes before they were forcibly removed or worse.
But, contrary to what many learn in schools, Native and Indigenous peoples are still here today, and we wanted to honor them by hosting a community conversation with one of the groups that is here today: the Lenape Nation of PA. [[link removed]]
On Wednesday, November 17, we hosted a virtual community conversation with Adam Waterbear DePaul, a member of Tribal Council and Storykeeper of the Lenape Nation of PA who shared information with us about the past and present of the Lenape as well as how environmental stewardship and conservation play an important role in the Lenape culture.
Wanishi (thank you), to all who attended the presentation. I truly enjoyed talking to your group and responding to your questions, and I have told council about your commitment toward conservation, which is so very important to us. If you would like to know anything more about the Lenape or the LNPA, please don’t hesitate to contact us: www.lenape-nation.org [[link removed]] .

The Lenape were just one of the many tribes that reside here in Pennsylvania, so we hope this is just a starting point (or continuation) of your journey in learning and supporting Native and Indigenous people across Pennsylvania.
Thank you for your support and advocacy,
