Key Outcomes from the UN Climate Summit 

The COP26 climate summit is over. Where did things land? In a comprehensive new article, WRI’s Helen Mountford and other WRI experts unpack the major outcomes and the many pledges and commitments. Although emissions-reduction commitments fell short of what is needed to limit average temperature increases to 1.5 degrees C (2.7 degrees F), there was progress on other fronts, including pledges on methane emissions, greater attention to loss and damage, and agreement on important rules underpinning how the Paris Agreement will be implemented. How National Net-Zero Targets Stack Up 

Seventy-four countries have communicated net-zero targets. WRI research analyst Clea Schumer analyzed all 74 targets to gauge if they are robust, ambitious and transparent enough to drive emissions-reductions policies. The good news?
