Currently, the legal U.S. cannabis industry is worth $61 billion and is expected to exceed $70 billion by 2028. Nearly half of all U.S. adults have tried cannabis and a majority believe it should be legal for medical and adult use.
The LGBTQ+ community made much of this possible. From Giovanni’s Room to the AIDS pandemic; from “zaps” to trans healthcare; from Alice B. Tolkis to Anna Madrigal; and from Dennis Peron to Laganja Estranja, the LGBTQ+ community has been a powerful catalyst for cannabis legalization , and ironically, one avenue that brought cannabis to the mainstream.
In commemoration of World AIDS Day, please join our panel discussion featuring noted historians, history makers, and change agents from the LGBTQ+ and cannabis legalization communities, including expert voices from Equality Federation. Together we will explore the fascinating, important, and often overlooked role the LGBTQ+ community plays in the history — and the future — of cannabis legalization.
It should be a fascinating evening, looking forward to sharing it with you.
Warmly,
