John, did you see this headline from The 19th?
The U.S. still has only 5 Black trans elected officials after November 2
This is an horrifically low number - especially as a new slate of anti-trans bills sweep the country. It is absolutely imperative that our Black trans elected officials have the support they need to fight against harmful bills - and that we send them reinforcements.
This Giving Tuesday (Nov. 30th!), Victory Institute is raising $15,000 to support our Victory Empowerment Fellowship (VEFs), which engages emerging LGBTQ leaders of color and/or transgender leaders and provides them with the know-how and strategies needed to run winning campaigns. VEFs attend our exclusive Candidate & Campaign Trainings, receive mentorship from elected officials and LGBTQ leaders around the country, come to Washington, DC for our International LGBTQ Leadership Conference and join a vast network of Victory Institute alumni, political experts and more.
The VEF is the largest nationwide effort specifically geared towards getting more transgender and LGBTQ people of color elected to public office - and it's powered by donors like you! Join other grassroots donors and make a generous contribution today to fund this essential program!
As the person in charge of these programs and selecting a new cohort of VEFs every year, I can tell you demand for this program has never been higher. We're so grateful that more LGBTQ leaders of color and trans leaders are stepping up to run in the face of extreme bigotry - they're incredibly brave!
John, we know that having trans voices in the halls of power makes a huge difference for all LGBTQ lives. We're seeing more trans leaders and LGBTQ leaders of color courageously step up to run - and we can help them win. But if we're going to match demand in 2022, we need donors like you to step up. Help us reach our Giving Tuesday goal of $15,000 so we can train these amazing leaders and help them WIN!
Thanks for stepping up,
Sarah Pope
