David Perdue just did something that no senator should ever consider: He voted to put the interests of private insurance companies over the healthcare of 1.8 million Georgians with pre-existing conditions.

Perdue has voted to strip healthcare from 22 million Americans, including 720,000 Georgians with the Affordable Care Act repeal of 2017. He supports higher premiums, insurance plans that neglect to cover maternity care or prescription medicine, and would allow an age tax for senior health insurance. Perdue also supports a court challenge that could undo the ACA in its entirety.

Georgia deserves a senator who will build on the ACA to achieve universal healthcare. Teresa would lead that fight by bringing Medicaid expansion to 500,000 Georgians and ending the crises of maternal mortality and rural hospital closures.
