Team: Did you know that 78% of job applicants over 50 report age discrimination in the hiring process?

With a job market upended by the pandemic, rapidly-evolving technology, and more Americans switching careers, we’ve heard from workers over 50 who are worried about getting a fair shot in the hiring process.

This isn’t right, and NewDems helped pass the Protecting Older Job Applicants Act in the House to expand the 1967 law prohibiting age discrimination in the workplace. Do you support our bill to stamp out age discrimination in the hiring process and guarantee equal access to employment for all workers?

We believe that getting workers with 20 and 30 years of experience into competitive job openings is a no-brainer. But even still, nearly every House Republicans voted against our bill — failing to take action to protect workers most at-risk of age-based discrimination. 

As innovation and growth change the makeup of job markets and employment opportunities, we need to do more to make sure workers with decades of experience aren’t pushed out of the job market.
