John,
As one of CREW’s biggest supporters, you don’t need me to tell you that former President Trump’s attacks on democracy continue to be a threat to our country.
I know you probably agree that the January 6th insurrection was terrifying and a portent of real and continuing dangers going forward, and that accountability for those who incited the insurrection is critical.
And I hope you agree that CREW’s work remains key to getting accountability and answers about the insurrection. From our ongoing investigations that have already yielded new information about how January 6th unfolded and how law enforcement responded to threats ahead of time, to our tracker of corporate donations to help re-elect the Sedition Caucus, to our pressure on Congress for a thorough investigation—we’re working hard on all fronts.
If you want to keep that work going, then I have a way you can help.
One week from today is Giving Tuesday, when people come together to support organizations they rely on and want to help thrive, and we need your help to start off strong. A generous supporter is matching up to $25,000 in donations to help keep CREW strong—can you make a matched contribution now?
CREW’s work in addressing the abuses of the Trump administration isn’t just about January 6th. We have ongoing investigations into corruption, misuse of taxpayer funds and more. CREW’s many Hatch Act complaints led to a recent Office of Special Counsel report on the rampant violations of the Hatch Act in the months leading up to the 2020 election. That report affirmed CREW’s assertion that the Trump administration tried to co-opt the full powers of government to keep Trump in power, and it included a call for reform and better enforcement provisions, echoing CREW’s work over the last few years. We’re also hard at work advocating for comprehensive reforms like the Protecting Our Democracy Act and the Freedom to Vote Act, which would help close the loopholes Trump abused and strengthen our democracy so everyone’s voice can be heard.
If that sounds like a lot of work, I’ll be honest: it is. But CREW’s team is up to the task, and will be in it for the long haul, thanks to supporters like you.
I hope you’ll consider helping us start off Giving Tuesday strong—make a matched donation now, and you’ll be keeping us strong for as long as it takes to get accountability.
Thank you,
Noah Bookbinder
President, CREW
