Rep. Cori Bush officially launched her re-election campaign to the U.S. House of Representatives, and I am thrilled to wholeheartedly endorse her.
Cori is exactly the leader we need to represent St. Louis in Congress. As a nurse, pastor, and single mom of two kids, she has always been involved in her community. After the murder of Michael Brown in 2014 just minutes from where she lived, Cori stepped up to serve her neighbors as a triage nurse — and she came back to protest in defense of Black lives for the next 400 days. We’ve seen her bring that same passion and urgency into Congress, where she is playing a crucial role to make progressive change a reality.
I know from experience that we can't take anything for granted in this race. Last cycle, corporate GOP mega-donors and less-than-progressive primary challengers spent millions attacking me. Fox News would dedicate entire segments spewing racist, false, negative attacks at our campaign. And I can bet they're about to throw some of the same attacks Cori’s way that they used against me.
