John: With our democracy in crisis, we’ve got to elect more bold women leaders who will put our communities first and pass the groundbreaking, game-changing, and lifesaving legislation we need.

That’s why Emerge is committed to recruiting, training, and electing women of the New American Majority (NAM). That means the Black women, Brown women, Indigenous women, women of color, young women, LGBTQ+ women, and unmarried women who make up a growing number of this nation’s population.

Today, we want to lift up two of our powerhouse alums making history, breaking barriers, and creating better opportunities for all.

DANICA ROEM
VA HOUSE OF DELEGATES, DISTRICT 13

For more than 10 years, Danica Roem covered the issues facing her district as a professional journalist – and then she ran for office to deliver results on issues from transportation policy to equity, equality, and inclusion under the law. On Nov. 2, Roem won reelection to the Virginia House of Delegates. She remains the longest-serving out transgender woman in a state legislature.

SADAF JAFFER
NJ GENERAL ASSEMBLY, DISTRICT 16

Sadaf Jaffer was a member of Emerge New Jersey’s very first training cohort. In 2019, she became the first South Asian American woman to be elected mayor in New Jersey and first Muslim woman mayor in the United States. Since then, Jaffer has championed fact-based approaches to public health, racial justice, and green economic recovery. Earlier this month, Jaffer won her race to represent District 16 in the New Jersey General Assembly and became one of the first AAPI women elected to the New Jersey State Legislature.

Women of the New American Majority know the gaps, imbalances, and injustices facing ALL our communities today. They are already leaders, advocates, and powerful voices for change.

With every election cycle, it’s clearer and clearer that our country is ready for them to lead. But this is a team effort, John, and we need your help to power our programs. Will you donate $5 now to help Emerge recruit, train, and elect women up and down the ballot in every state?

Team Emerge

Emerge is a national organization working to recruit, train, and get Democratic women elected across the country, and we are so grateful to have you on our team. Our alums are strong voices for Democratic values — and they are running up and down the ballot to fight for working families. They are fighting for critical issues that affect our communities, such as the environment, accessible and affordable health care, social justice, and education equity. We need more alums fighting for us across the country.

You may notice that we send a lot of emails asking for your support — that’s because we win when everyone does what they can to help. Our organization depends on thousands of actual people who care about our democracy and want to see positive change in our communities and across our country by building power through investing in Democratic women. If you’d like to donate, click here.
