The OpenSecrets team wishes you a heartfelt Happy Thanksgiving! Reflecting on this busy rollercoaster of a year, I am so grateful that our organization is supported by such a committed and wonderful community.
Now is the time of year for getting together, enjoying each other’s company and eating hearty meals. While our team has not been together in person — these past two years have tested our ability to adapt to a new world of endless Zoom calls, empty desks and remote collaboration — I am proud that our staff rose to the challenge. And I can’t wait to share with you our new and improved web platform, set to launch in early 2022.
For now, here are a few things I am grateful for:
* Our staff has worked tirelessly to prepare for 2022, which is no easy task considering the massive volume of state data we are integrating into our website. A special thank you to our Montana-based staff members who joined with the CRP team and jumped headfirst into this project following our recent merger ([link removed]) .
* Our users — including journalists, newsrooms, scholars and advocacy groups served by our data who produce original work and surface important revelations across a wide range of political issues. We have been cited in more than 35,000 articles and reports ([link removed]) in 2021 thanks to the prolific output of OpenSecrets' users and their confidence in our data.
* You — and others like you — for sharing and believing in our mission, and in our ability to make a difference by keeping campaign finance and lobbying information transparent and available to anyone who seeks to have an informed political perspective.
We will continue to serve you into the new year. Thanks to you, we are able to keep our data work and tools freely available online for anyone’s use.
