John,
One lesson Montana has taught me is that you don’t have to be in Congress to be there for your neighbors when their lives get precarious.
When Montana faced a shortage of personal protective equipment (PPE) at the start of the pandemic last year, I had the opportunity to work alongside Montana mutual aid groups to support the effort to keep us safe. I turned full-time to looking out for our neighbors. We organized 2,800 masks and face shields for people with respiratory illness and donated the PPE to tribal and rural healthcare clinics
As many of us turn to family and celebrate the good in each other this week, I want to encourage you to remember the Montanans who could use a little extra support right now.
Missoula Food Share Project is a project of the Montana Black, Indigenous, and People of Color Mutual Aid Fund (MT BIPOC Mutual Aid Fund), a group that organizes resources to make sure that not one more struggling Montanan falls through the cracks. Will you join me in supporting them today?

What’s so great about MT BIPOC Mutual Aid Fund and other mutual aid groups is that we fight for one another to bring back a Montana that’s rooted in respect — not greed and exploitation. That’s why I want to make sure that they have enough resources to continue serving our community.
The mutual aid movement is so powerful precisely because we continue the legacy of the true Montana spirit of always helping out a neighbor in need. We know that billionaires won’t pay to keep us safe and healthy. That’s why we must be there for one another: because we know what we need and how to build a Montana that works for all of us — not just those who were born into wealth.
As we come together for the holidays to be thankful for our friends, families, and neighbors, I want to shine a spotlight on our hometown heroes, remember the true Montana spirit, and give back to a group that’s been working day in and day out to feed hungry Montanans and serve one another with dignity. Will you give $3 to Missoula Food Share Project so they can continue to serve those in our state who need it most?

Thankful for you this week,
Tom
