Praying Through My Christmas Tree
The holidays are here! With the Advent season beginning next Sunday, we're sharing a reflection on Advent traditions from Rev. Sandy Nenadal, assistant to Bishop Farr.
Rev. Nenadal remembers how the Christmas season unfolded slowly and deliberately in her childhood home. Her family waited until after Christmas Eve worship to set up and decorate the tree. While she didn't carry this tradition on once she had a family of her own, Rev. Nenadal was inspired to create a new Advent tradition: Praying through her Christmas ornaments for the people and places they brought to mind.

#GivingTuesday Supporting the Mozambique Initiative
For teenage girls in Mozambique, marrying before age 18 isn’t uncommon. With no economic opportunity outside of marriage, many young girls find themselves in early and often difficult marriages. Local United Methodist Churches in Mozambique are helping girls avoid these situations by training them to sew. This vocational skill allows girls and women both to be financially independent and to help support their families. The Mozambique Initiative’s partners in sub-Saharan Africa shared their hope to empower women and support girls by multiplying these sewing and design centers at churches across the country.
