FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE November 23, 2021 Carter Page's Defamation Suit Goes to Supreme Court Upland, CA, November 23, 2021 – The Claremont Institute’s Center for Constitutional Jurisprudence Director John Eastman, a founding partner of Constitutional Counsel Group, filed a petition for writ of certiorari on behalf of Carter Page in his defamation lawsuit against Democratic National Committee, the Perkins Coie law firm, and two of its (now former) partners, Michael Sussmann (who was recently indicted by Special Prosecutor Durham over his role in the underlying Russiagate scandal) and Marc Elias, who engineered the Democrats litigation strategy to unconstitutionally alter state election laws in the 2020 election. The cert petition challenges the decision by the Chicago-based federal court of appeal dismissing the case because three of the Perkins Coie law partners are U.S. Citizens BASED IN CHINA, who therefore, according to the court, destroy the “diversity of citizenship” required for federal court jurisdiction even though none of the Perkins Coie partners share the Oklahoma domicile with Carter Page. “Overturning this highly technical jurisdictional ruling is key for Dr. Page to be able to press his defamation claims in court,” stated Eastman. “Those claims are rooted in the massive RussiaGate false narrative and scandal that occupied the country’s attention for years after the 2016 election. It is high time that Dr. Page gets his day in court, and we eagerly await the Supreme Court’s decision on our request to review this case.” The Center for Constitutional Jurisprudence is the public interest law arm of the Claremont Institute, whose stated mission is to restore the principles of the American founding to their rightful and preeminent authority in our national life.
