Dear Friend,
Every year, thousands of children arrive at our borders alone to seek protection. Many have experienced immense trauma from war, violence, or extreme poverty. Still, they face the burden of defending themselves against deportation once they get here.
The Young Center’s Child Advocates are there to make sure children are not alone in facing an inhumane and complicated immigration system. They work with the most vulnerable kids, meeting them every week throughout their time in government facilities and beyond as they seek legal protection, and making sure their voices are heard by decision-makers. Young Center staff advocate with each stakeholder, from immigration officers to judges to those who work at shelters, to make sure children are protected, their rights are respected, and they land somewhere safe. They are incredibly efficient at this work! In fiscal year 2021, 93% of determinations made by Young Center Child Advocates to government agencies, shelters, and other authorities were followed.
That’s why for years, my family and I have supported this organization to help them fight for more kids. I want to invite you all to join us and help the Young Center reach its goal of raising $100,000 by midnight on Giving Tuesday, November 30 ([link removed]) . Every contribution will go towards protecting and advancing the rights and best interests of immigrant children.
Join me in donating today! ([link removed]) And tell your friends, family, and colleagues to help us build an immigration system that sees children as children, one contribution at a time.

Thank you so much,
Johanna Afshani
Young Center Ambassador
P.S. Giving Tuesday is in one week! Join Johanna in being a Young Center Ambassador ([link removed]) to help uplift our fundraising campaign. Thank you!
