National parks are warming twice as fast as the rest of the country. Wildfires, rising sea levels, extreme weather events and other threats are already taking a terrible toll on our parks. Glaciers are melting, lakes and rivers are drying up, and historic structures are crumbling.
- Restore national parks damaged by rollbacks to air and water protections.
The Clean Air Act and Clean Water Act are among the bedrock environmental laws weakened in recent years. Although we have made some progress in getting those protections back to full strength, dirty water and unhealthy air in our parks show there’s much more work to do.
- Establish new parks to tell a more complete American story and ensure more people can see themselves in their national parks.
NPCA is proud to be amplifying the voices of people calling for new national park sites to preserve important stories while highlighting our shared heritage. We believe that national parks are our country’s greatest storyteller. Telling more inclusive, complete stories will help all Americans feel welcome at their parks and connected to everything they represent.
