I made a promise to get to the bottom of the Postal Service’s mail service issues that have been affecting Marylanders for months on end. Today, I want to share with you what I’ve learned while working on this issue.
Earlier this year, I requested an audit of several Baltimore-area Post Offices, and the report’s findings confirmed what Marylanders and I have long suspected:
“Audit finds Baltimore region had the second-most missing mail reports in U.S., blames mismanagement and understaffing” - Baltimore Sun
The Baltimore region has the second-highest number of missing mail inquiries in the entire country -- more than three times the national average . There has been chronic mismanagement, understaffing, unreported mail delays, and improper mail scans.
The audit makes recommendations for how the USPS can rectify these issues, and I’m urging Postmaster Louis DeJoy and USPS leadership to take these recommendations seriously and enact change ASAP. Will you add your name to mine and strengthen our calls for USPS leadership to restore mail services for Maryalnders? [[link removed]]
