You may have heard of the Washington Post’s slogan “Democracy dies in
darkness.”

 

Though I disagree with much of what the Post publishes, its slogan is on to
something…

 

The truth is your freedoms die in darkness too.

 

Last year’s COVID-lockdowns are a prime example of the government concealing
its actions in order to trample your rights.

 

Governor Gavin Newsom and Dr. Mark Ghaly, citing unreleased “science and
data,” locked down schools, churches, and businesses for months.

 

That’s right – Newsom, Ghaly and other radical politicians and bureaucrats
used an emergency to grab power while hiding the truth.

 

In a time where transparency was needed most, the truth was shrouded in
darkness.

 

And your freedoms began to wither on the vine.

 

Which is why the Center for American Liberty stepped in and sued several
government agencies including the City of Los Angeles and the California Health
& Human Services Agency (CHHS) to release all of the supposed “science” and
“data” they were using to justify the unconstitutional lockdown orders.

 

And the good news is we already won one case. We successfully forced the City
of Los Angeles to reveal the science it used to justify its lockdowns.

 

Now we have a huge hearing on December 3rd in our case against CHHS. Just TEN
days from now!

 

You may remember that we first filed this lawsuit back in May of 2020

 

Then, in August 2020, CHHS confirmed, by letter, that it has data and
scientific research responsive to the Center for American Liberty’s request but
refused to produce these public records claiming the agency’s interest in
nondisclosure outweighs the public’s interest in disclosure.

 

You read that correctly – these bureaucrats literally said that the
government’s interest is more important than the public knowing the truth.

 

What are they hiding? And why are they shielding Dr. Ghaly?

 

Because the truth is that the data shows that the lockdowns weren’t necessary
– there is no “science” justifying any of it.

 

Why were churches closed and marijuana stores open? Why were small businesses
forced to shutter while big box retailers were unaffected?

 

Because this wasn’t about “science.” It was about power.

 

Even now as we emerge from the pandemic, Newsom, Ghaly, and their allies still
refuse to justify their actions.

 

They want their actions to live in darkness so that you and I never know the
full truth.

 

Because if we knew the truth, we would have more leverage to push back on
Newsom’s unlawful power grab.

 

Finally, you and I have a chance to peek behind the curtain.

 

Which is why our December 3rd hearing is so important.

 

If we can’t force the government to be transparent now, it will continue to
hide its actions from the public view whenever it wants.

 

It’s up to patriots like you and me to hold the government accountable and
push back against tyrannical overreach.

 

California law requires such transparency.

 

We already won once, and, with your help, we’ll win again.
