We need to address the elephant in the room.
I am grateful for your fight for voting rights. The legislation you have co-sponsored -- the For the People Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Act -- are incredibly meaningful and urgently needed to preserve our Democracy.
But the filibuster that you continue to stand by is what’s standing in the way!
I truly understand your desire for bipartisanship. I wish ALL elected officials, regardless of party, would fight for the voting rights of all Americans.
But in today’s Senate, the filibuster is NOT a path towards bipartisanship. It is a path towards minority rule, complete gridlock, and obstruction.
We can’t sit and wait for the perpetrators of voter suppression to come around and join us in the fight to protect voting rights. It will NEVER happen.
