Dear John,
October marked American Pharmacists Month, recognizing the positive role pharmacists play in their communities. As this celebration comes to a close, we want to acknowledge all of Allied Against Opioid Abuse (AAOA)’s pharmacy partners and the important work they do. Our partners are critical to our mission, and we look forward to future opportunities to collaborate on preventing prescription opioid abuse and misuse.
To learn more about how pharmacists are helping to address the epidemic in their communities, we talked with three AAOA partners:
- Carlie Traylor, PharmD, Associate Director, Strategic Initiatives, National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA);
- Liza Chapman, Vice President of Partnership Development, Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB); and,
- Erica Martin, Senior Manager, Practices and Population Health Initiatives, and Megan Grant, Senior Manager of Marketing, Communications, and Design, Pharmacy Society of Wisconsin (PSW).
Additionally, this week AAOA had the opportunity to engage directly with independent pharmacists at the NCPA 2019 Annual Conference and Expo in San Diego. At the event, we distributed the Pharmacy Toolkit and talked with pharmacists about how we can continue to support their work.
AAOA’s Pharmacy Toolkit, developed in collaboration with NCPA, the National Alliance of State Pharmacy Associations (NASPA) and several state pharmacy associations provides a suite of materials to help foster conversations with patients about prescription opioid safety. Thank you again to all our pharmacy partners — the American Pharmacists Association, NASPA, NCPA, and PTCB.
Thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Allied Against Opioid Abuse
