Hi Global Citizen,
There are over 736 million people living below the international poverty line of $1.90 per day. But there’s some good news to share — your actions are making a difference.
Since 2009, Global Citizen has leveraged the power of governments, artists, corporations, NGO partners, and civil society with one common goal: to end extreme poverty by 2030. We focus our campaigning on five key issues that we believe will have the most impact for people living in extreme poverty: Health, Education, Food & Hunger, Water & Sanitation, and Gender Equality.
We’re extremely proud to share with you today just how much impact your actions have had.
In the last 10 years, Global Citizens have taken over 24.8 million actions which, combined with high-level advocacy work, has resulted in $48.4 billion worth of commitments made by governments, multilateral institutions, and corporations.
Of that total, $22 billion has already been disbursed with another $26.4 billion set to be released in the coming years. The funds that have been released have already affected 880 million lives.
What does it mean to “affect 880 million lives”? It means that actions taken by Global Citizens have resulted in 880 million interventions that can help people lift themselves out of poverty. This means that someone might receive a life-saving vaccine, a refugee children will still get access to education, or a family will have access to clean drinking water.
Nearly all of our commitments are on track to be completed within their set timelines, and we’re actively holding these commitment-makers accountable to make sure these commitments are fully executed.
We’re really proud of the work we’ve done, and we’re just getting started. Thank you for helping us in our success so far — we couldn’t have done it without you.
Thanks for doing what you do,
Neha Shah and the Global Citizen Team
