Dear Friend,
As we approach the holiday season, it is important that we continue to prioritize our health and safety while spending time with our family and friends. Here are a few tips from the Pasadena Department of Public Health to help you and your loved ones stay safe this year.
Get Vaccinated
The COVID-19 vaccine has been proven to be a safe and effective way to slow the spread of the virus. Three COVID-19 vaccines have received emergency authorization for use in the U.S. and are available at NO COST to you. All three vaccines are highly effective at preventing disease, and all three are approved for those 18 years and older, and the Pfizer- BioNTech vaccine has been authorized for children 5 years old and above. Certain populations are also eligible for the booster shot. Contact your local pharmacy or healthcare provider, or visit https://myturn.ca.gov/ to make an appointment or find a vaccination site near you.
Wear a Mask
Be sure to follow local mask requirements when entering grocery stores or in other public indoor settings, and if possible, wear a mask covering your nose and mouth when serving food.
Wash Your Hands
Personal hygiene is an important step to keep ourselves and others healthy. Wash your hands frequently, especially before preparing, serving, or eating food.
Gather Outdoors
Gathering outdoors when possible can help disperse the virus. In sunny Southern California, parks and outdoor spaces are readily available for a festive picnic.
Communicate
In advance of holiday gatherings, set clear expectations with loved ones about everyone’s vaccination and testing status. Also, if you are feeling sick, stay home to prevent any further spread.
Travel Safely
If possible, delay travel unless you are fully vaccinated. If you are travelling this holiday season, make sure you are taking the above precautions to ensure everyone is staying healthy during your trip. Whenever possible, avoid crowds, wear a mask, and get tested before and after your trip.
I hope you all have a cheerful holiday full of love and joy. Please feel free to call my office in Pasadena with any questions at (626) 304-0110. More information is also available at Pasadena Department of Public Health, and County of Los Angeles Public Health.
Sincerely,
