Meet Josie, VPAP's Summer Data Intern

This summer, the VPAP office has been brightened by the smarts and good cheer of Josie Martin, a rising sophomore at Virginia Tech. She’s a mechanical engineering major with an Italian minor, who dreams of one day working for NASA. She is a Richmond native and a graduate of Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School.

This summer, Josie is researching voter registration trends and trying to measure how the presence (or lack thereof) of local elections can impact turnout in off-off year legislative races.

She also likes art history and enjoys fresh scrambled eggs for breakfast from her family’s backyard chickens.
