We are thankful for all your hard work in getting BBB passed in the House!

Hey Indivisibles,

Great news for reconciliation: all your countless hours of organizing paid off, and the House passed Biden’s full Build Back Better agenda (BBB)! Now the bill is on its way to the Senate, where we expect senators to come to an official vote as early as November 29th. This is a huge win for reconciliation, as Biden’s full Build Back Better Agenda will make badly needed public investments across the economy. The work doesn’t stop here though -- there will be some hurdles to overcome in the Senate (including pushback from our usuals: Sens. Manchin and Sinema).

Now for democracy: There was a failed procedural vote on the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act on November 3. When it comes to a vote again, we expect Republicans to filibuster the bill -- just like they did with the Freedom to Vote Act a few weeks ago -- teeing up a big filibuster showdown once the Senate is done with reconciliation. So it’s on us to keep pushing for Democrats to fix the filibuster and pass this massively popular bill.

With that, here are your weekly to-dos:

Your Weekly To-Dos

  1. Call your senator and demand they pass BBB as quickly as possible! The House just passed the Build Back Better Act (BBB) and now it is on its way to the Senate. Now it is time for the Senate to do its job and pass BBB the week of November 29th. With just a few days left until the Senate vote, it is urgent that you call your senator and tell them how important it is that we pass an inclusive recovery bill that works for everyone ASAP.
  2. Call your Senator and demand they fix the filibuster and move quickly to pass the Freedom to Vote Act. Senate Democrats have released a new version of their democracy reform bill called the Freedom to Vote Act. The Freedom to Vote Act builds on the For the People Act and brings us closer to passing transformational democracy reform this Congress. Call your Senators and let them know you want them to adjust the filibuster now to pass the Freedom to Vote Act.
  3. Make a $10 donation to Indivisible. With everything we need to do to prep for the Senate fight over BBB, plus democracy and all the other priorities that await us when senators return, we’re hard at work building resources, call scripts, and more, and spending a lot of money to do it. To be honest, we’ve fallen a little behind our fundraising goal this month -- chip in today to help us close the gap before the month is up.
