Friend,
We have seen great victories throughout the Labor Movement this week and an overall increase in labor activism with workers pushing for better conditions as the pandemic continues.
More than 10,000 members of the United Auto Workers ratified a new six-year contract offer at Deere & Co., the giant manufacturer of farm and construction equipment ending a month-long strike this past Wednesday. Congratulations to the UAW!
So many workers across the nation have made enormous sacrifices during the pandemic, working long shifts in masks to keep our nation going. With many positions paying less than a living wage, some employers are squeezing their workers and refusing to make jobs more competitive with even basic benefits.
Nurses, grocery store workers, service employees, Amazon workers, and many unknown heroes were considered essential in the early days of the pandemic, they worked long hours sometimes with no off days and now many have seen a rollback of their hazard pay, minimal Covid mitigation policies to protect workers’ health, and even cuts in benefits.
Right here in Northeast Ohio, members of the Cabell Huntington Hospital Chapter have rejected a last, best, final offer that would have forced them to work for less money and accept unreasonable and unnecessary concessions.
As a result, nearly 900 local members of the SEIU 1199 said ENOUGH and walked out on strike to protest the numerous unfair labor practices committed by the Hospital. Watch their walk out video and see the Labor Movement in action.

Strengthening the Labor Movement is more important than ever.
Friend, thank you for your support for the working families across our nation. Together with your help we will continue to organize and support the house of Labor.
These wins demonstrate that it is always the right time to challenge the status quo and have the courage to ask for more.
In Solidarity,
Nina Turner
