Republican gerrymandering gains are happening because the filibuster is blocking redistricting reform.
The New York Times: Republicans gain heavy House edge in 2022 as gerrymandered maps emergeHelp us support rural progressives who will pass voting rights reform and abolish the Jim Crow filibuster -- donate $10 or more today!

The New York Times reports:

On a highly distorted congressional map that is still taking shape, the [Republican] party has added enough safe House districts to capture control of the chamber based on its redistricting edge alone.

Republicans are already poised to flip at least five seats in the closely divided House thanks to redrawn district maps that are more distorted, more disjointed and more gerrymandered than any since the Voting Rights Act was passed in 1965.

This doesn’t just pose a problem for Democrats going into the 2022 midterm elections, but will impact House races over the next decade.

The Jim Crow filibuster has blocked Democrats from passing voting rights legislation including the For the People Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Act that would have put a stop to this partisan gerrymandering.

Thousands of Six PAC supporters have contacted their Senators demanding voting rights and an end to the filibuster. And we’re working to elect rural progressives who will defend the integrity of our democracy.

Demand voting rights, redistricting reform, and an end to the filibuster. Donate $10 or more to our work now!

Thanks for your support.
