As we go into this week of Thanksgiving, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the last few weeks and what we have accomplished in DC on behalf of the American people.
Early last week I joined the President at the White House for the bill signing of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which will make critical investments in our highways, roads, railways, waterways, and more. By the end of the week, House Democrats passed the Build Back Better Act – a key step in getting long overdue relief to hard working Americans nationwide.
Build Back Better is a transformational package that includes:
✅ Measures to lift families — like universal pre-K, paid family leave, and an expanded child tax credit
✅ The largest investment in affordable housing in our history, including down payment assistance to help thousands of Americans buy a first home
✅ Resources to combat climate change – to name a few, expanding domestically-produced clean energy and protecting/restoring our coasts and forests
✅ Lowered prescription drug prices through Medicare negotiation
✅ And more!
And make no mistake, friend – these efforts to level the economic playing field were envisioned and executed by Democrats alone. Not a single House Republican voted for this historic legislation to strengthen the middle class, lift our families, and make investments for generations to come — all of which is paid for.
With 2022 just around the corner, it’s so important that Democrats defend our House majority. We’ve shown that we’re here to work for the people – for all Americans. DC Republicans have shown they’d prefer to obstruct.
