Commission Considers Status of Postponed General Conference

The Commission on the General Conference announced today that it is continuing to move forward with logistical planning for the postponed 2020 General Conference, but that it continues to monitor various factors, including pandemic-related developments, which could impact the decision to hold the event on the previously announced dates of August 29 – September 7, 2022.  A determination is slated to be made during the first quarter of 2022 about whether to hold the postponed 2020 General Conference as currently scheduled or to consider further postponement. Conference Staff Shift to Remote Work on Fridays Beginning December 3

The Missouri Annual Conference staff continues to adapt to the evolving work environment and as we’ve prepared for a post-vaccine world, we’ve had numerous requests from staff for some limited ability to work from home. Many of our employees discovered just how productive and effective they can be by working this way over the course of the past 20 months. To honor that, we’ve decided to make each Friday a “work from home” day.  The Conference and Mid-State district office will be closed on Fridays. The Episcopal Office will remain open on Fridays. There may be some Fridays that the building will be open for special events. Conference staff will work from home on Fridays during the normal business hours of 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and can be reached via email and/or phone. The voicemail system pushes an email to the appropriate staff for easy pick up and return. Many of our staff have their phones forwarded to their mobile phones already. Giving Tuesday: Sewing a Better Future for Girls and Women in Mozambique

Did you know that teenage girls in Mozambique often find themselves in early and difficult marriages? Local UMCs in Mozambique are helping girls avoid these situations by training them to sew. The Mozambique Initiative’s partners in Mozambique shared their hope to empower women and support girls by multiplying these sewing and design centers at churches across the country. Let’s help our siblings sew a brighter future for their communities this Giving Tuesday: www.mzinitiative.com/donations/sewing-a-better-future
