This is staggering -- according to The Atlantic , “If deforestation were a country, it would be the world’s third-largest source of climate-warming pollution. ”

Deforestation accounts for roughly 15% of the world’s annual greenhouse gas emissions. It threatens local wildlife and communities and is linked to organized crime and human rights abuses.
