To John and the Rest of Our WAVE Family, We are distraught, reeling. We had planned to send an email today sharing extensive coverage of our deep concerns about the verdict coming out of Kenosha (see below). But, given the pain we are all feeling, we wanted, instead, to send a message of care. It took us some time to respond because we wanted to find the perfect words to say, but, the truth is, there are no words to describe the pain and sadness we all feel after such a devastating weekend for Wisconsin. From Kenosha to Waukesha and beyond, we understand how deeply impactful these events have been. We are struggling to process all of this, as we’re sure you are, too. In Kenosha, people have been on the ground working tirelessly to ensure that the pendulum of justice would swing in the right direction. The verdict has left us disappointed and heartbroken. In Waukesha, we saw a day, which the city intended to be a day of excitement and fun, turn into a series of tragedies that have left us all shaken. As we continue to work through our emotions, we hope that you, even if only for a moment, can find some time to pause and breathe as we approach the upcoming holiday. At WAVE, we are eternally grateful for you. Thank you for caring deeply about issues, including gun violence, that affect ourselves, our neighbors, and our loved ones. We stand in solidarity with you always. -From all of us at WAVE P.S. Here are a few articles, which make clear our concerns and disgust about the verdict in Kenosha. |
