Under President Biden’s leadership, America can make great
strides in how we deal with the existential threat of climate
change.

Earlier this month, we went to the global climate summit in
Glasgow, Scotland, with a new, powerful determination to act
quickly and decisively to stop the destruction of our planet. And
here at home, we passed a groundbreaking infrastructure package,
the largest legislative effort to rebuild our communities in
American history.

But the only way we’re going to truly end the climate crisis is
to accelerate this momentum and follow through on our
commitments.

You can count on me to hold firm and keep pressing for strong
action to protect the environment. But I need to count on your

The Trump Administration was a complete disaster for the
environment. Four years of relaxing regulations, catering to Big
Oil, polluting the air and water, and pulling out of the Paris
climate agreement set us back in a big way.

But President Joe Biden and our Democratic Congress are stepping
up to meet the challenges of rising temperatures, devastating
wildfires, sea level rise, severe weather events, and mass
extinction of wildlife. Not only are we enacting bold initiatives
like cutting methane gas emissions, we’re committing to sharing
the financial burdens of this crisis with developing countries.

I’m proud to be a part of these historic efforts, but I worry
that the coming midterm elections could deal another blow to our
progress.
