![]() Hi John,
Whose streets? Our streets! The neighborhoods we are fighting for belong to the people, and no corporate or private investors will ever change that. Today, we are celebrating some of the latest housing justice wins for the greater movement. Recently, the Santa Ana Tenants Union, based in California and Inquilinxs Unidxs, based in Minneapolis claimed rent control victories in their communities!
In 2019, Right To The City, PolicyLink and Center for Popular Democracy released the report Our Homes, Our Future: How Rent Control Can Build Stable, Healthy Communities which highlighted how rent control is one of the only policies that can provide immediate relief to renters facing the burden of steadily increasing housing costs. More than two years after the report was published our members have won rent control on both state and local levels! These most recent wins were not only significant to frontline communities in Santa Ana, CA and Minneapolis, MN but also a powerful example of the trans-local grassroots power Right To The City Alliance is growing as we move closer to our vision of homes for all! ![]() The photo was taken in the home of DC tenant association organizers from the a recent meeting.
