Friends -

On too many fronts, the laws being made in Washington are failing our families.

I saw it countless times as a judge and as Chief Justice, and I hear about it every day talking to voters. We need someone who understands and has lived these experiences — not another politician or out-of-touch insider.

One of my first jobs was as a busboy at The Spaghetti Factory — working minimum wage and relying on servers to tip out. That’s how I know that raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour would change lives.

I saw up close how broken our health insurance system is when I spent countless hours on the phone as a young mom fighting to get critical medical care for my twin boys.

I’ve watched as hurricanes and extreme weather caused by climate change have destroyed communities in our state, and it’s why I’ll fight for aggressive action to combat the climate crisis.

I learned early on from my mom and grandparents about the struggle for voting rights, and in my career, I’ve seen up close and personal how our justice system fails our most vulnerable.

As your Senator, I will relentlessly pursue justice for the people and fight for your family. But first, we have to win this race, and that will require all of us to work together.

So if you can, please make a donation to my campaign today to help us bring new leadership to North Carolina and the Senate. There is so much work to be done, and with all that’s on the line, it’s critical that we win this race in 2022.
