Oswego schedules extra
snowstorm brush cleanup
Put brush to the curb by 7 a.m. Monday, Nov. 4, for free collection
The Village of Oswego will conduct a special brush collection starting Monday, Nov. 4, 2019, to collect brush that fell during the unseasonably early snowstorm that hit on Wednesday.
Place brush at the curb by 7 a.m. Monday morning to ensure collection.
Pile brush neatly so that the ends of the branches are all facing the same direction. Do not put brush in a container or in the street. Public Works trucks will pass through an area once and will not return for brush placed after the deadline to ensure that crews can return quickly to leaf collection.
Please note, crews cannot pick up:
- Brush blocked by vehicles
- Brush places in or on top of leaf piles
- Leaves mixed into brush piles
This is done to ensure the safety of our workers and to prevent damage to our equipment.
Leaf collection continues
Leaf collection will resume next week with collection in Zones A and B. The exact start date will be determined by how quickly crews can complete the extra brush collection. Have your leaves piled at the curb by this Monday, Nov. 4, as usual, and crews will collect them as soon as brush collection and weather permits.
The next round of leaf collection in Zone C is scheduled to begin as usual the week of Nov. 11, weather permitting.
It's also Fall Clean-up Week
As a reminder, Groot will conduct the annual fall clean-up next week, November 4-8, on your regularly scheduled garbage day.
Groot will collect additional household waste, yard waste and bulk items for all Village residents for free. No stickers are required during the free clean-up week, however, residents must still place yard waste in the 30-gallon Kraft yard waste bags. Yard waste will not be accepted in plastic bags.
Residents may also bag their leaves and put them out for this collection, if they choose.
Place all items (excluding brush, which must be placed by 7 a.m. on Monday) along with your regular garbage and recycling, at the curb by 6 a.m. on your normally scheduled garbage day.
Residents cannot put out appliances, televisions, or electronics during this collection. For more information on Electronics Recycling, including information on how to schedule a collection of electronics from your home, visit the Village’s website.
