Dear Reader,
You read PublicSource for a reason. It may be that you want to know what’s being done to address inequities or what decisions are being made locally and who’s making them. You might seek us out to learn about the experiences of other community members or for clear explanations on the most complex issues we face in the region.
No matter your reason(s), we want to ensure PublicSource is here, delivering what you need.
Our board of directors is one group working to help PublicSource thrive. Each member has their own reason for supporting PublicSource’s mission. Its newest member, Lauren Trocano, wrote in her application to join the board: “I value and respect journalism and believe in its power to improve our community. I’m also deeply concerned about threats, both economic and political, to the free press. PublicSource has demonstrated that it delivers truth and transparency, telling stories that shed light on important issues through the lens of equity.”
And our members, the people who support our journalism with a donation, often tell us why they give.

During our Newsmatch period, when one-time gifts are fully matched and new recurring gifts are matched x12, please consider what your “why” might be. Whether you value that our stories are available for free, that we hold public officials accountable, that we provide context other sources lack or that we prioritize understanding the unique nature of the Pittsburgh region, now is the time to show your appreciation. Every gift helps us produce more independent, fact-checked journalism. Can you make a gift of $15, $25 or the amount of your choice today?
