Congresswoman Lesko Weekly Update

Good Afternoon,

As you likely saw, this week, Democrats pushed through their radical tax and spend budget reconciliation package that will add to our crushing national debt. This reckless spending goes to fund even more reckless policies like amnesty for millions of illegal immigrants, a tax on American families heating their homes, and abortion on demand. This bill is a bad deal for Arizonans and Americans across our country and I was proud to join all of my Republican colleagues in voting no.

Legislative Update

Great news! It gives me great pleasure to announce that the U.S. Senate has passed the Congressional Gold Medal Act I cosponsored and now it heads to the president's desk to be signed into law. This bill honors the 13 brave servicemembers who were killed in Afghanistan on August 26, 2021.

GET THE FACTS: Biden's Turkey Tax

This Thanksgiving’s meal is expected to be the most expensive in the history of the holiday due to Biden and the Democrats’ failed policies. Last Thanksgiving was the cheapest Thanksgiving meal in a decade. The difference between this year and last is leadership. Democrat policies have led to inflation, supply chain, energy, and labor crises here in the United States which all add up to one expensive Thanksgiving feast. 

Advocating for Seniors

I was recently awarded the American Patriot Award by the Association of Mature American Citizens. This award is given to members of Congress who are fighting for America's seniors. I am proud to represent so many seniors in Congress and will always advocate for their needs and priorities, including preserving and strengthening Social Security and Medicare. 

Around the District

Monica from our office presented a congratulatory letter to His Holiness Mar Awa III Royel for being elected and consecrated by the Holy Synod as the 122^nd Catholicos-Patriarch of the Assyrian Church of the East. Our district is home to a great Assyrian community!

Monica from our office presented a Congressional Recognition to the Goodyear Police Department and the Goodyear Fire Department for their hard work serving the citizens of Goodyear, AZ! Thank you for all you do to keep our community safe!

Austin from our office presented the Daisy Mountain Fire and Medical Department with a Congressional Recognition. Thank you for all you do to keep our community safe!

Austin from our office attended a ribbon cutting for 83^rd Marketplace Dental Care’s new facility in Peoria, AZ. 

Monica from our office presented a Congressional Recognition to Colonel Thomas “Tom” H. Kirk Jr. for his hard work and advocacy for veterans. Thank you for your service and sacrifice.

Casework Highlight

Our office received a call from a constituent who was having difficulty obtaining a refund for his 2020 Federal tax return. Our office contacted the IRS and was able to help the constituent obtain his refund.
