It’s not just you — we all seem to be getting a barrage of unwanted and illegal robocalls lately.

And each year, scammers and spammers are getting more sophisticated. As technology advances, so do their tools. So we need better tools to take on this fight and protect Americans against these scammers.

That’s why Josh is leading a bipartisan coalition of 51 attorneys general to protect folks from robocalls. This week, he and his colleagues sent a letter to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) supporting its efforts to further crack down on unwanted robocalls.

Earlier this year, phone companies were required to administer a caller I.D. authentication technology that confirms phone calls come from the verified numbers. The requirement was meant to eliminate spoofing.

But here’s the problem: Robocallers are now successfully evading caller I.D. authentication by buying access to legitimate numbers to conceal their true identities.

Folks, fraud like this needs to be stopped. If you have to lie about something as basic as the phone number you are calling from, you’re not up to any good.

Josh is calling on the FCC to hold these phone companies accountable, urging them to use a more thorough application, review, and monitoring process, as well as requiring companies to verify customers’ identities.
