The American healthcare system is rigged to maximize profits for insurance and pharmaceutical companies while the American people are stuck with subpar and expensive healthcare. Just last year, as millions of Americans lost their employer-based health coverage, major insurance companies like Humana, Anthem, and the United Healthcare Group posted earnings that were twice what they made the year before.
Shervin Aazami is running a people-powered campaign for CA-30 and has made fighting for single-payer healthcare a top priority. But he's facing an uphill battle against an opponent backed by insurance companies and corporate PACs, and he needs our help to continue this fight.
No one should be able to profit from the sickness of others. But major insurance companies and pharmaceutical giants do just that. And the American people are footing the bill. Here in California, Assembly Bill 1400 (AB1400), or CalCare, would enact single-payer healthcare coverage for all Californians - finally guaranteeing healthcare as a human right. While we’re making progress on single-payer here in California, work at the national level remains woefully unfinished.
Shervin Aazami is a dedicated community leader and public health advocate. He’s exactly the kind of representative we need in Congress working to pass single-payer health care for Californians, and everybody across the country. I know - because he’s out there on the streets, fighting with us to pass CalCare:
- Betty Doumas-Toto Board Member, Americans for Democratic Action
Elected Delegate, Assembly District 45
Vice President, Feel The Bern - San Fernando Valley
Shervin Aazami is running to be the first progressive Iranian to serve in the House of Representatives. This is more than a political campaign – this is a people-powered, progressive movement. With your help, we can take this movement to Washington to
bring real change to West San Fernando Valley.
