John,
Yesterday the House passed the Build Back Better Act! This bill will
invest in the things our country needs to create a strong, stable,
globally competitive economy and make life better for working people.
Here’s some of what’s included:
* Universal prekindergarten and investments in child care
* Investments in clean energy, and funding so that communities have the
resources to withstand extreme weather caused by climate change
* Investments in higher education
* Programs that will lower the cost of insulin and other prescription
drugs, an expansion of Medicare to cover hearing aids, and expanded
tax credits to help millions gain health coverage
* An expansion of the Child Tax Credit
* Investments in affordable housing
Katie’s proud to have stood up to corporate special interests to make sure
this legislation will truly help families and be paid for by taxing
billionaires and major corporations.
Now, the Build Back Better Act moves to the Senate. Once it’s signed into
law, Katie will be ready to oversee these new programs to make sure
they're run efficiently and effectively, so that families across the
country feel the benefits in their daily lives.
