Animals don’t belong in factory farms. We need a food system that rewards sustainable, diversified farms – farms that build rural communities, value their workers, respect consumers and treat animals humanely. Donate today to power our fight to ban factory farms.

John,
For generations, small and mid-sized farms reliably fed people and cared for the environment and animals. But factory farms upended this relationship. Today, legal and policy failures have allowed a handful of giant corporations — like Smithfield, JBS and Tyson — to have a stranglehold on our food system.
Far from the idyllic images of healthy animals on family farms, the vast majority of farmed animals are raised on factory farms designed to confine large numbers of animals in intensive, unsanitary and cruel conditions — treating them as commodities, not as living beings. The conditions these animals live in foster the spread of disease, and routinely subject them to brutality and violence.
But we know there is a better, more humane way. That’s why Food & Water Action is fighting to break industrial agriculture’s stranglehold on our food system. We’re working to pass a national ban on factory farms and transition existing factory farms to smaller, diversified operations, benefiting billions of farmed animals each year. Donate to help build a more sustainable, humane food system.

Ban Factory Farms

It’s not enough to simply advocate for improving regulations on factory farms, and we won’t solve this problem with our individual food choices — by “voting with our forks.” To protect farmed animals we have to dismantle the entrenched political power that corporate agriculture has amassed. It’s time to say “enough is enough” and ban factory farms. Donate to help create a more sustainable food system.
