More Florida residents have been charged with crimes related to the January 6th Capitol insurrection than any other state.

As a Floridian, I’m extremely troubled by that fact. I want to know why so many of our fellow citizens traveled to our nation’s capital and sought to violently overturn a democratic election.

However, MAGA Gov. Ron DeSantis doesn’t seem troubled at all. Instead, he’s refusing to investigate the Florida-based hate groups involved in this egregious attack on our democracy.

Floridians deserve answers -- and we deserve far better than our current MAGA governor. Chip in $3 today to help me defeat Gov. DeSantis and restore accountability to Tallahassee. »

The January 6th insurrection was a threat to our democracy, so it was a threat to all of us. It didn’t matter who you voted for in the last election. Your democracy was under attack on that terrible day.

Investigating the insurrection should be a bipartisan matter. After all, the congressional committee examining the events of January 6th is bipartisan!

But MAGA Gov. DeSantis would rather engage in partisan politics and do Donald Trump’s bidding than ensure accountability for insurrectionists. In my view, that’s disqualifying -- and it’s part of the reason I’m challenging Gov. DeSantis.
