A lot has happened these past few weeks, and I want to touch base with you about what’s been going on and what we’re looking ahead to as we quickly approach 2022.
First, my 2020 opponent, Jim Bognet, entered the race and declared that he raised over $200,000 in the first two weeks after his announcement.
Between Jim Bognet and Teddy Daniels, political experts like those at the Cook Political Report have raised flags that this will be an even tougher election than it was last year, going so far as to call me the underdog in this race.
Yes, we have a lot of work to do, but it has to be done. Our Democratic majority in the House depends on holding highly competitive seats like mine. Kevin McCarthy’s GOP has ALREADY spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on ads against me, and it’s not even 2022 yet. They know they just have to flip a few seats to take back the House.
And if they do, it would be a disaster for the American people. Bills like the bipartisan infrastructure package that was recently signed into law would never see the light of day, and extremists like Bognet and Daniels would be all too happy to reinstate Trump-era tax cuts for the rich at the expense of investing in our communities.
The 2022 election will determine whether we’ll go back to the politics of stunts and extremism, or if we’ll carry on tackling issues and finding common sense solutions to make sure that our economy is not only thriving, but that workers and families across the country get a chance to get a piece of that prosperity.
We’re preparing for 2022, and I’m glad to have supporters like you by my side. If you can, consider chipping in even just $20 to help keep this seat blue. We can’t afford to slip up in a race this important. [[link removed]]
Thanks, and for those traveling for the holiday, I wish you happy and safe travels.
