I’m so excited to share that I was just endorsed by the Elect Black Women PAC. This endorsement in particular is so meaningful to me because of how lonely, impossible, and downright intimidating it can be to run for office as a Black woman.
We’ve made huge leaps with diversity in politics, but folks will stay tell me (to my face sometimes) that I don’t belong, I can’t do this, and I’ll never win. That attitude is the reason there is not a single Black woman in the United States Senate.
Having the Elect Black Women PAC behind me is another reassurance to me that I belong here. We belong here. Black women belong in politics. If you’re with me, can you donate $5 today? Now is the best time to contribute to our campaign.
According to the Center for Responsive Politics, Black women candidates raise on average half of what white candidates raise.
Yep, that’s right — half.
I’m not the typical candidate running for office in Ohio. I’m young, passionate, and I’m willing to talk about things like cryptocurrency and Big Tech that have a huge effect on our economy. I’m not taking a single dime of super PAC, fossil fuel, or corporate money and that means I’ll have to work even harder as a Black woman to keep up with my corporate-backed opponents. I knew the fight I was getting into and I’m proud of how far we’ve come doing this the right way.
