The Week in Review

Happy Friday!

It was a busy week in Washington, D.C. Democrats pushed through the second piece of their massive spending plan, Freedom Caucus held a hearing on the impact of unconstitutional vaccine mandates, and we had many conversations about the inflationary pressures on our economy. I will always keep fighting against the Swamp to protect the rights and freedoms we hold so dear. Read below to learn about the important happenings of the week:

Biden's Build a Bigger Bankruptcy Bill

This morning, Democrats passed phase two of Biden’s Build a Bigger Bankruptcy plan. What a sham. The American people sent us here to make their lives better, not to thicken the swamp with more bad actors and horrible policies. Pelosi and the Far Left continue to prove they are willing to sacrifice American prosperity for personal power. Bottom line, this bill is criminal, just like the people running our country. And the Far Left will reap what they have sown come 2022. Concerned Parents are NOT Terrorist

Attorney General Merrick Garland made headlines this week (yet again) after a whistleblower came forward revealing that the FBI’s Counterterrorism unit was instructed to create a “threat tag” to track concerned parents from school board meetings. This contradicts Garland’s testimony during his hearing with the House Judiciary in October, where he brushed off the severity of the DOJ’s actions in targeting parents and labeling their behavior as “domestic terrorism”. However, thanks to this whistleblower, we now know that the FBI, in response to Garland’s memorandum was weaponized against parents. In light of this revelation, I sent a letter to Merrick Garland along with 14 of my colleagues demanding answers. This soviet-style surveillance on the American people will not be tolerated.  I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: concerned parents are NOT domestic terrorists. Interview with Varney & Co.

On Wednesday, I went on Varney & Co. to discuss DHS Secretary Mayorkas's recent hearing on Capitol Hill. When Mayorkas was asked by Senators how he would grade his job performance, he said, “I give myself an A for effort[.]”  Let that sink in. He also insisted that Biden’s border policies are on “the road to success”. Unfortunately for Mayorkas, the American people are the real judges, and they give him and President Biden an F. If you don’t believe me, just take a look at our latest number from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). On Monday, CBP announced its October encounter numbers, revealing that more than 164,000 illegal immigrants were encountered at our southern border.  This is the HIGHEST number of encounters for the month of October, and just the latest sign that President Biden’s failed policies have made our nation less secure. Stop Biden's Vaccine Mandates

This week, I chaired a House Freedom Caucus hearing on vaccine mandates.  At the hearing we spoke with several witnesses on the efficacy of the vaccine and how these mandates are weakening our workforce. The House Freedom Caucus has been fighting tooth and nail against President Biden’s unconstitutional vaccine mandates that affect more than 80 million Americans. Bottom line: The greatest encroachment that the COVID-19 epidemic has imposed on the American people is growing government control of their everyday lives. Click here to see the full hearing.

I have also introduced the Freedom from Mandates Act to block President Biden’s vaccine mandates, cosponsored Congressman Thomas Massie’s legislation to block the vaccine mandate for the military, and this week I cosponsored Congressman Fred Keller's resolution to nullify the OSHA vaccine mandate.  Federal vaccine mandates are unconstitutional and another example of Democrats using government power over the American people. Remember when Dr. Fauci and the Far Left promised that the federal government had no place in forcing Americans to get vaccinated? We sure do, and we are working to block these vaccine mandates. Opposing EPA Overreach

This week, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced a proposed rule to re-establish the pre-2015 definition of “waters of the United States” (WOTUS). The WOTUS proposed rule is one of the most intrusive and expansive regulations that came from President Obama's political EPA. President Biden will use it to make every puddle, ditch, and creek in the United States subject to overbearing regulation merely with the stroke of a pen. It is clear that President Biden and Administrator Michael Regan want to reinstate the failed policies of the Obama administration that hurt hard-working Americans and gave more power to D.C. bureaucrats.
