Friend,

Illinois can learn a valuable lesson from Virginia.

Recently, in a so-called “blue” state, Virginians voted for a clean sweep of statewide Republican candidates, also flipping the Virginia House of Delegates from Democratic to Republican control. This year’s election marked the first time since 2009 that any Republican had won a statewide race in Virginia. Even Illinois has elected a Republican to statewide office more recently than that.

So, why would a blue state vote red?

It’s simple: Republicans listened to voters, focusing on what matters most to them — their wallets, their freedom, and, most importantly, their children.

Many voters simply want to know what leaders will do to help give their kids the best possible future.

That’s also a top-of-mind concern in Illinois, as government officials here have callously exerted ever-expanding state control over children. These misguided bureaucrats and politicians have increasingly infringed on parents’ rights, preventing mothers and fathers from raising kids as they see fit.

We've seen how JB Pritzker has failed our children in Illinois over the last 2 years.

A pro-family reset is long overdue. Just as Glenn Youngkin successfully stressed in his campaign, nothing is more important than for parents — not the government — to have the power to decide what’s best for kids when it comes to education, health, and more.

Let’s restore the relationship between the parents of Illinois and their government to one that gives back to parents the respect that they never should have lost in the first place.

In the News

My Statement on the Signing of SB 536 and the Lack of Election Integrity Safeguards:

"Out of all of the items included in SB 536, improving and increasing election integrity safeguards was not one of them.

If the Democrats are going to make voting vastly more accessible, they need to increase voting safeguards. Yet, they are so focused on their one-party control that they don't even consider what the voters want—and Illinoisans want to know their vote will be counted fairly and securely. But Democrats couldn't even reach across the aisle to make election integrity a pillar of our voting process. Good government and governance starts at the top and under JB Pritzker's leadership deficit, Illinois voters will experience another election with a lack of safeguards that promote integrity in the system.

I would have VETOED SB 536 because of the lack of election integrity safeguards. Integrity and trust must be restored in our elections."

The relationship between parents and our state government needs to be rebalanced. Parents, not the government, should have the power to decide what’s best for their children. Many voters simply want to know what leaders will do to help give their kids the best possible future!
