Conversion therapy, sometimes referred to as “reparative therapy,” is a range of dangerous and discredited practices attempting to change one’s sexual orientation or gender identity or expression.
Simply put: conversion therapy is cruelty.
Trevor’s research team found that LGBTQ young people forced to endure conversion therapy were more than 2X as likely to report having attempted suicide and more than 2X as likely to report multiple suicide attempts in the past year.
Twenty states and more than 100 municipalities in the U.S. have passed laws to protect youth from conversion therapy. Most recently, in August, with strong support from its medical and faith communities, we helped Charleston become the first city in West Virginia to protect LGBTQ youth from the practice.
We know you believe that LGBTQ young people have the right to be loved and respected for who they are. Translate that belief into action today with your gift. Your generosity will power Trevor’s advocacy efforts to ban conversion therapy in every state in the U.S. and countries around the world.
