John,
On Halloween, we think about scary stuff.
Not much scares me, but the thought of this administration getting re-elected to another four years of regressive policies and hate-filled actions is definitely unsettling. But it’s what’s closer to home that we may not always consider so threatening—especially when it comes in the form of a “popular” legacy family, like that from which our Congressman WIlliam Lacy Clay, Jr. hails.
The MO-01 seat has been in his family for 50 years. That isn’t Democracy—it’s royalty. This kind of dynasty flies in the very face of our Democratic system, in which representation is supposed to change and reflect the people it serves. In those five decades, MO-01 has seen staggering child poverty rates, a lack of investment in people and cities, corruption, violence, environmental racism, institutionalized racism, and police-perpetrated deaths that rocked our communities to the core.

My opponent is bankrolled by corporate PAC money from industries like insurance, real estate, and high finance. While he spends very little time on the ground in his own Congressional district, he’s operated by the Big Money machine that keeps his war chest filled and ensures he votes for the 1% that bankrolls him, not for the 99% that desperately need a voice in Congress.
Unlike him, we’re a 100% grassroots campaign that relies on the support of people like you. To meet out October fundraising goals and keep up the fight, we need to raise $3,000 by midnight tonight.
I’m not scared to keep fighting against the Big Money Machine that has long kept our voices silent, but we need your help.
Will you help us take the fight to the halls of Congress by giving $25, $50, $100, or whatever you can spare today?
Let’s allow Democracy, not a dynasty, to lift up MO-01.
In solidarity,
Cori
