Friend - The House has voted to include parole for millions in their version of the Build Back Better bill, let me explain what that means.
Parole would mean work permits and temporary protection from deportation for millions of undocumented folks. We did this! Immigrant youth and allies organized, made calls, and took action at Congress members’ offices.
But parole is not citizenship, and so our fight still continues. While parole would change the lives of millions in our community, a true path to citizenship is the only thing that can provide permanent protections. That’s why Senate Democrats must disregard the parliamentarian’s bad advice and include a pathway to citizenship in their version of the Build Back Better bill.
Can you take a second and add your name to our petition to demand that Senate Democrats disregard the parliamentarian and keep citizenship in their version of the bill?
ADD YOUR NAME
Temporary protections are not sufficient, our immigrant communities need and deserve so much more. Democrats in Congress made a promise to build back better for all communities. But under the Biden administration, over 1.2 million people have been deported or expelled.
Citizenship would mean permanent protections for millions of people who currently face the threat of detention and deportation. Until we win permanent protections for all 11 million, we will continue fighting.
Can you share our posts to make sure your friends and family on social media are up to speed on what happened in the House today and how we’re going to win citizenship?
